Whether you call them Deutscher Schäferhund, Alsatian, German Shepherd, or GSD you have entered the world of the highest quality dogs in the world. Whether you are looking for a great family pet, show dog, or working German Shepherd we at Von Dietrich German Shepherds strive to maintain the highest standards of the breed. As a quality breeder we only breed the best to assure that these standards are preserved for future generations.
The German Shepherd Dog is considered "a natural dog breed", unchanged with no additional need for surgical "enhancements" of any type such as ear or tail docking or "excessive grooming". The German Shepherd Dog can do it all, and do it all well. No other dog can do so many different things as well as a German Shepherd.
Von Dietrich German Shepherds strive to breed German Shepherds that are exactly to the standards that Max von Stephanitz, ( the developer of this breed) has set. They envisioned a dog breed of great character, tremendous working ability, utter loyalty, superior intelligence, and trainability combined with rock-solid temperament.
Von Dietrich German Shepherds strives to maintain the standards of size, German Shepherd coat colors, pigmentation, proper bone structure, and conformation. Max von Stephanitz, thought that above all "Utility is the true criterion of beauty"
We were founded in 2006 by Jeff Dietrich as a breeding and training facility for German Shepherd dogs. We breed these magnificent animals to the breed standards set for American Kennel Club for the show side of our business and the SV "pink papers" for the working /sports bloodlines of our breeding stock.

The Rule of Sevens
Pat Hastings, AKC Judge and coauthor of "Another Piece of the Puzzle: Puppy Development", offers these hints for socializing very young puppies.
By the time a puppy is 7 weeks old, it should have:
Early socialization, which includes stimulation from a variety of sources, can go a long way toward producing an outgoing, confident adult.
“Jeff and Cara are the greatest! We couldn't recommend them more highly. We have two wonderful puppies from them. One is over 1 year old and the other is a few months. The quality of service and care after the sale of the puppies have been very professional and shows the caring of the puppies after the sale. We have had them do training on our 1 year old and have found it to be very beneficial. We have had dogs our whole lives and by far these have been the best dogs we have ever owned."
"Good Morning Jeff. We are very pleased with Diesel. We love him very much. He has the best drive. When he wants something he cannot be stopped. He investigates everything, behind couches, chairs, and end tables. We will send pictures soon. Thank you so much to you and your wife for being so very helpful and nice."
"We purchased a German Shepherd puppy from Jeff and Cara earlier this year and could not be happier! The temperament of the dog is perfect for a family with young children. The puppy is very loving, kind, curious, and adapted well to a change of scenery. We received our puppy when she was 10 months old and during the transition, both Jeff and Cara have been checking up on the dog's transition and her well-being. The dedication to ensuring our puppy made a smooth transition into our family was amazing! I never expected to receive a post-sale phone call from the breeder asking how the puppy was doing nor the quick response to any training questions we had. The focus on the dog's well-being even translates to their vet who is more than willing to discuss the puppy and her early interactions with the puppy and its parents."

German Shepherds are a double coat breed. This means that they require regular brushing and will shed year round. Upon adoption, be prepared for the grooming and vacuuming that will come along with welcoming a German Shepherd into your family. Never cut or shave your German Shepherd's coat.
A minimum of two hours of exercise should be provided to your German Shepherd each day. This can include walks, and off leash play time in a secure environment.
Yes, all of our dogs from Puppies to Sires are AKC registered. Each puppy comes with their own AKC registration application upon adoption. We are passionate about remaining true to the breed and producing quality, healthy German Shepherd dogs.
